The deal, which confirms an Upstream report on Tuesday , will require the Chinese yard to deliver the DP3 rig in the third quarter of 2014, according to a statement issued by CIMC Raffles Thursday.
Norwegian engineering house Grenland Group has provided the basic design of the rig, which is capable of working in water depth of 1500 metres and drilling depth of 7600 metres.
Classed by DNV, the COSL Prospector is designed to work in weather conditions below 20 degrees centigrade and will be built to the requirements of the PSA and Norsok.
With the additional ICE-T, Clean and Winterization classification, the platform has a low environmental footprint and is able to operate in ice conditions and low temperatures as is typical of the harsh conditions of the North Sea. |
