Yeah, it should be the last defend for the entire impulsive down move. Is it common to have W4 retrace to or even more than 61.8% of W3? the probability for W5 failure is high in that case right?

I really believe we are going to see some major truncation. Looking at the Dollar Index, we look to be starting a big C wave down in it's correction, so I am anticipating some medium term Dollar weakness.

see the thing is that i see 5 wave up in euro so that means it need to come down for correction and usually euro and gbp moves side by side.

If you take a closer look at the 1min chart, you can't find five down without some overlap. Not to mention, the 5 up on the 5min, indicates that we have at least 5 more small waves up to come.
The Eur/GBP is losing on the day, which tells me that the Pound has greater relative strength at the moment, so it is possible that it creates another high.

Well, eur and gbp do not necessarily move side by side. Cable also depends on eurgbp and gbpjpy. Right now, I see the 5-wave impulsive up move of gbpjpy is probably over. The it will be followed by a correction. So in very short term, we could see some down move of gbpusd. However, I anticipate that there will be some USD weakness coming soon. Cheers

yeah you are 100% right on that. I see the 5 waves up on M5.

I noticed that too. Gbpusd is likely to register a new high, which is probably right at 61.8% Fib retracement of W3 down. Then, we probably see at least a decent pull-back to the down side from there. Cheers!

isnt it that the gbp/jpy is the multiple product of gbp/usd and usd/jpy ? cause if you multiply the price of usd/jpy and gbp/usd, you come up with the price of gbp/jyp ?

Yeah, you are right. So I think movement of gbpusd is also pretty much dependent on that of gbpjpy, which is likely to set up for a long trade after a correction coming near. Regards

Hey Guys,
Euro has already completed 5 waves up on the larger time frames. And if you look at the 5 min chart, we have a clear 5 waves down with a 3 wave retracement to the 50 fib. I am short from 1.3261 area.
This seems to fit with Euro being a little weaker that the Pound today.

I've got different count from yours. According to my count, either the last up move is W3 or WC, it needs to take out the recent high first to complete W5:3 or W5:C (I'm not sure whether it may have 5th wave failure or not). In my opinion, going short now is a bit hurried. So I will hold on first. You can wait and see whether there is a bigger 5-wave down move, then you can decide from there on. I think the Usd looks strong currently. So, no point fading it for the time being.Cheers

I've got different count from yours. If mine is correct, then we should see the final W5 down (seen on 4-hour timeframe). Your count looks absolutely possible to me. The key is to watch whether the downward move that you treat as double zigzag holds. Right now, it's already holding at 78.6% Fib Retracement and about to breach I think. If that level can't hold , then it's likely that the downward move is impulsive and the final downward W5 thought I mentioned above is quite likely to occur. I am also new to EW analysis. So, EW experts here may have different opinions. Cheers

Now came up with Ending Diagonal, I believe wave 5 is forming as diagonal..

how do you guys decide what kind of waves these are? seems like there are endless possibilities? all i am capable of understanding are the 12345 impulsive and 123 corrective. Those bat and butterfly patterns elude me.

Wow, good recommendations. I have read the 1st and 3rd which I found very helpful. Personally, I feel that it was good for me to start with the Prechter book to get the overall definitions, but it's somewhat of an academic approach if you will. However, to make it practical, it's hard to beat Dynamic Trading. A bit pricey but worth it, or, consider his newer book as well:
High Probability Trading Strategies, Entry to Exit Tactics for the Forex, Futures, and Stock Markets. by Robert Miner
Would you care to provide a mini-review of Balan's book? It's not available on Amazon but I see there are plenty of PDF's one can find on Google.

I believe Balan's book is out of print now. And although free downloads can be had of it in pdf form, I'm wondering why no publisher has thought of re-issuing the book since it's the only one, as far as I know, that tackles Elliott Wave analysis as applied to forex.

Yellow color ABC correction is almost near ending stage, think. And this ABC is near the 61.8% fibo of 5 impulse waves..
Wave C from 1.4095 can be subdivided into abc, and sub wave C is equal to 162% of sub wave A.

My counts on usdjpy. The price is at WC of a flat now. However, I do not think WC is done just yet. It might go up to 99 in a 5-wave weary rally and end up with an ending diagonal at 50% or 61% Fib Ret level which are good places to go short there. I am expecting a big retracement of the recent up move testing the support trendline though. I think the price action may be going to be choppy and has a lot of overlapping portions. but finally will get up to 50% or 61.8% Fib level (even 78.6%). I find it difficult to trade in this condition and probably stay out of Yen pairs for a while

I personally think there is should be more contributions to this thread. Lets turn up the fire and heat this thread up a little bit. As an elliot waver, you all know this is by far one of the most accurate forecasting tools for the market. I really want to hear from you guys what you guys see on the charts. I am in Eurusd. Anyone who wants to discuss this particular pair using the Elliot's i am more than happy. Sometimes trying to locate those points can be difficult.
Anyway, this is what i see on the Eurusd chart. Any comment is welcome ofcourse. As for me...its friday night and i opening up my first beer waiting for the Non Farm data to be out.

The current spike up on Eurusd is just a mere markets reverse reaction on the worse than expected Non-Farm data. I still see wave 5 heading downwards from here....we are probably hitting the high or maybe going up higher before heading down for wave 5. There is still room for wave 4 to go up...but very limited.

The two most important rules in Elliott Wave Theory are these (both taken from "Elliott Wave Principle" by Frost and Prechter):
Page 41: "The single most important rule that can be gleaned from a study of the various corrective patterns is that corrections are never fives"
Page 31: "In an impulse, wave 4 does not enter the territory of (i.e. overlap) wave 1."......"Elliott further discovered that in price terms, wave 3 is often the longest and never the shortest among the three actionary waves (1,3 and 5).
The only time that wave 4 can enter the price territory of wave 1 is in either a Leading or Ending diagonal. So, if what you depicted on your chart is either one of those, then your count could still be valid, but you haven't depicted it as such.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry if i caused any hostility for this thread. I posted what i see and i believe in, i could be right...i could be wrong...and i believe that happens to all of us all the time and thats is why we are in this forum...to share knowledge. I said in my ealier post that i will be happy to hear your opinion about eurusd EW counts.

Very nice work BB as usual!
I'm watching an alternate count (but close!), mainly because cable stopped at a conflunce of projections and it could already have the bottom in place.
If you have a look at each wave down of this correction it is a 3 wave move, so I wouldnt rule out the same outcome
for this last wave...
