http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif UPDATE : Revising y5.4 count
Attached is a chart adjusting y5.4 to correct something I missed out on my analysis.
Time factor was supposed to have been incorporated and it would have shown that we were not yet finished with y5.4
And now that y5.4 is a complex wave, then wave y5.5 should take less time than y5.4
If y5.4 was simple and not complex then it would take y5.5 longer to finish.
If you want to know where I got the rules, PM me.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Price and Time
If Price and Time was taken into consideration together..... This could have been anticipated.
Price y5.4 > 23.6% < 50% of y5.0 - y5.3
Time y5.4 was a complex wave structure so it is supposed to take longer than y5.0 - y5.3
y5.0 - y5.3 = 26 candlesticks on the 4H Chart
y5.3 - y5.4 = 30 candlesticks actual. I should have expected it to last more than the 26 and if I incorporated the Price factor, then I could have gotten closer to the Peak of y5.4
It was just staring straight at me and I missed that earlier..

I just rec'd the "Elliot Wave Principle" book by Frost and Prechter that I ordered from eBay last week.
it looks like a very good one, I will read it as soon as I have time (and energy)... http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif Then I'll join your forecasts to discuss a bit the current situation with an "EW-glass" in front of our eyes if you don't mind, El Grande http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif y5.52 Target Zone
I tried looking at lower time frame to see how the y5.52 is unfolding.
And this is how I see it based on what I am following.
That large plunge is thought to be y5.51 and y5.52 is supposed to unfold based on the following considerations:
Price y5.52 = 50% to 78% of y5.51
Time y5.52 at the minimum should be more than 50% of y5.51
But often , it is from 62% to 162% of y5.51
Analysis:
Price : Target Range for y5.52 is in the Orchid Color Range which is 50% to 78.6% of y5.51
Time :
y5.51 is 6 bars from y5.50
y5.52 from y5.51 should be from 3 to 10 bars]
By the looks of things, we still have time to achieve y5.52 position in the Target Zone
EDIT Addition
***SIC*** Here I go again, I just noticed it now that we have actually reached the 10th bar and yet we only achieved 38.2% Retrace. I actually exited 4 positions at a LOSS when I thought I saw the 50% - 78% Tsrget Zone Rule.
Looking at Technical Indicators now for Direction.... it would seem that m30 and m60 are exibiting a move down.
So I will have to revise my position that now we have finished y5.52 in what I think is a Zigzag corrective wave.
OR I WILL STAY ON THE SIDE AND WAIT ............ FOR ASIAN SESSION LATER or Better if just to Start Trading when Euro Session opens.
EG
Please note that I am still learning EW Analysis. The opinions here are just opinions and are not recommended to be used as basis for your LIVE Trades.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif 032107 Update
The originally thought of as y5.4 Complex turned out to be a BIGGER Wave in itself.
Because of the Price - Getting into the Wave 1 and Wave 2 Zone
and Time - As it has exceeded maximum time for a Corrective Wave 4 to Develop.
You will see on the H1 Chart Labels in Pink and in Yellow
Pink - Old and NEEDS CORRECTION
Yellow - New CORRECTED.
You will note that I should have gone back to my charts and reviewed my y5.3 In the 4H Chart, I could not see the Potential Break on what I considered initially as y5.3 wave I know I went down to 1H Chart from the 4H. But I missed that mark nwhere I could have labelled y5.3.3
I placed y53.2 where I should have placed y5.4 I think the reason why I considered the OLD y5.3 as such was because I did not really break it down to the m15 and m30 Charts. It would have shown there.
This is where I as a beginner in EW needs to sharpen up. That is to be dilligent in studying the CHARTS in Different Timeframes.
Although, the Guideline used would still have been correct up to a certain point, when things GET ROUGH and they do not follow the Guidelines, Then we need to RECONSIDER other WAVE Counts.
At this point, while I could not really trade using EW, I was busy trading using other tools. Now, we should be on our way down for the wave Z of the W - X - Y - Xx - Z movement.
Yes you may wonder what this is. I too was confused before. The broker I was following used W X Y only on some scenarios while the table of Wave Count Legends had this as a 5 wave move of W - X - Y - Xx - Z movement.
I can not explain now but will try later.
I am moving on with this EW Counts even if I encounter such situations as this because I know I can not trade with EW alone. I need to use filters or other tools to help me Trade Forex.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Reminder
While above Chart seems to tell me that Cable is expected to move further down, WE MUST EXERCISE CAUTION as I am getting mixed signals from my Technical Tools.
The shorter time frames of up to m15 are showing signs of going down...... higher timeframes seem to indicate for the Cable going North.
This is based on a separate analysis and verified with my current broker who now sees the Cable moving up still.
I actually had my apprehensions early this morning before I called it a night as I normally go thru several timeframes to watch the development. I checked the EW Count of a broker whom I normally refer to (as they returned their online analysis already ) when I got back to my computer. Cable going South it seems to them is actually an option. It is still "A Possibility".
But as I said, we should validate EW Direction with other tools.
Looking at the 4H Chart... what I thought could have been a Bearish Reversal Signal was disputed by the next candle. The not so long legged doji ( red ) you see on my 4H above does not have High Reliability. I found a site which had a Nice Visual Summary of the High, Medium and Low Reliability of Candlestick Formations. And reviewing it it now shows the low reliability of that long legged doji.
I am now inclined to hold the view that Cable should be moving up North specially when it breaks the 1.9625 level then the 1.9675 moving up.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif EW Counting Revived
I will revive this thread in the hope of learning from others too while I post my own EW Counts.
I have made several attempts at this and gave up and went back then got convinced that this is really very important and should form the backbone of my Analysis.
Since I am at this again, I might as well throw it out in the open here and hopefully some good kind soul will help me further my learning EW Theory.
Before I used to depend on others and on a Broker's EW Analysis for direction and basically focused on the lower timeframes immedietely. I would barely look at monthly and even weekly or daily. Now I have realized it was a disastrous mistake.
I have been following one broker's EW Analysis since last year. But since last month, when I started looking at the blank charts and labelling them on my own, I found that there were discrepancies with my own count compared to the Broker's count.
But since later part of June last month, many including the Broker were expecting Cable to Fall and have been warning of the impending break of the trendline on the Daily Chart. It was broken though, yet Cable resumed its climb.
Based on my amateurish count, I still see cable going up.
I will present the charts below to show how I arrived at this count. If you want to criticize my counts, that is ok. I welcome being corrected if indeed I made a mistake.
You will also notice that I am implementing a different way of labelling the waves. I have used a serialized system of labelling the waves to give me my bearings in terms of various wave degrees that have passed and waves expected to attain next. This was another of my mistakes before. I was basically concerned of the short term wave counts.
I have started my counts on the monthly. But I have not completed the counts up to the Daily and the 4h TF yet. However, looking at the 1 hour chart, I believe we are in an impulse wave right now which I will label first as an arbitrary Wave 5.
In this Big Wave 5, you will see in my charts that I have counted up to W5.4 already. That is we have already finished wave 4 of this bigger Wave 5.
I believe we are currently on Wave 5 of the bigger Wave 5.
So .... here goes my 1st Chart.

By the way, I have finally managed to find the problem why I could not post charts before. That was one of the reasons too why I cold not pursue the discussion in this thread before because I could not post my charts. And it was difficult to solicit other traders' opinion if I could not post my charts.

Current 4H chart will show that I have confirmed from my Monthly and weekly and Daily charts that Cable is in a Wave 5 but in a Bigger Wave 3 inside a Z wave of a Monthly WaveY in a much Bigger Wave C.
Sorry if you got lost there. But hopefully the serialized Count I used as label would help you understand where I think we are at right now.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif For Merlin
I was wondering what happened to my earlier posts on this thread.
I posted several charts to record my current interpretation of the Elliott Wave Count in GBPUSD yesterday.
Now I do not see them anymore.
I did not want to start a new thread with the same theme . I know I made mistakes before in my counting. I am just trying to get back in the line now.
EG
Sorry Merlin.
I do not know what is wrong here. Maybe my laptop is going crazy. I could not find this thread earlier when I did a search for all my posts and when I did find it by going thru the discussion threads again... I found it but saw that the posts I made yesterday with the charts were missing. After I write to you above... and pressed submit... the charts showed up again with the missing charts.

Below m15 chart would put me in a position which based on my count woul be the start of the small wave 5.
Targeting
100% W1 - 2.0406
161.8% W1 - 2.0435
261.8% W1 - 2.0483
Note that this is only small wave 5 in a a bigger Wave 5.5.3..... by then we expect a major retrace for the Wave 5.5.4
Exited my Live Long at 2.0393 on MT4 but 2.0383 on my broker due to Forward trading nature

Yesterday was Great.
Got my 64 pips on 1 Long Trade and 74 pips on another trade based on the 2 early bird trades I made the other night. That wave 4 turned out to be a triple zigzag..... I think http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif
Had to leave my trades to attend to other business so was away for nearly 8 hours. And when I came back.... that wave 4 played out so well.
Yes I exited both my trades instead of moving my SL. Too bad i missed an additional 20 pips per trade. However I was too tired to do some analytical work after that big move so I thought it best to exit at a profit.
As they say, better bank your profits. It is not that bad to leave some pips on the table. There will always be a new day to make new profits.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Forward Outlook
Many are asking or wondering when this Cable rally will end.....
Let us see where we are currently.
Based on my counting
1. My current target for 5.5.3 on my last chart would be 2.0498 and 2.0617
2. I am still looking at finishing this 15minute wave 3.3.4 wave to go to 3.3.5
3. After this, we will see a minor correction 3.4 in those Aqua numbers on the last chart.
4. Then we move on to end of this wave 3.5 = wave 3 = 5.5.3
5. Here we get a bigger wave 4 correction = 5.5.4 before proceeding to 5.5.5 whose end I see as the top of MY.z.3.3
6. Then we get to the MAJOR Correction for the Year. = MY.z.3.4
Let us see how this plays out.
Bottomline is that Cable is still in a Major Bull Trend. This is how I see Cable on EW counting . If you are wondering if I am trading this live, the answer is I am trading LIVE with this but I exit at each correction when I am on my computer and I see that correction on EW Count would mean that my spread of 7 is covered and I will have additional pips in the bag when I re-enter. In short, retracement must be more than the spread I pay my broker to make it worthwhile.
Earlier I was trading using Micro EW Count on the 15m chart. I got 5 and 8 pips on 2 successive trades. First one made me miss an additional 20 pips. Still okay as I was on a positive even at just 5. the second trade I made missed another 5. Still okay with me.
Now I think we are in a minor w4 correction.
Update : I place a new Long trade looking at 2.0600 as the end of this small wave 5.
Happy trading everyone.

PS. Note the GAP that needs to be refilled. I expect Cable to go up very soon

El_grande, you can turn off the MT4 gridlines by pressing CTRL+G while having a chart selected.
Might make your charts more readable.
Also the forum will resize charts bigger than 600x600 I believe.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Update into US Session
Now I learned something new from SeekingLight. Thank you.
As soon as I pressed the submit icon from my last post when I mentioned GAP had to be filled like a vacumm, I saw price shoot up on my chart. I was hesitant to take advantage of that because , I suddenly thought it would continue going up like it did yesterday when I exited a rally. Besides I had to leave earlier this afternoon so I decided to let the trade run.
I should have maintained the thought that the time factor has not been satisfied yet so there was still possiblity of if going down again. That surge / rally could be counted as the X wave then it has to come down again for the Y wave or we could also label it as ABC instead of wxy.
To: Serega.... Not that keen yet on the USDCAD as I got burned with it last year. And I have not been paying that much attention to it for EW Counting. I do look at it from time to time looking for Harmonic Patterns.

I wonder if others viewing this have the same experience.
Is it because this thread is an old inactive thread for almost 4 months?
I do not mind if others do not view this because they are not interested. I just wonder about why I have to keep refereshing my browser or have to search and specify the page to go to for the last post.
Sometimes I know I have posted 4 posts already but the page only shows as last post the post made 4 posts earlier.
That z wave sent some cold shots thru my spine and tested my _____ for stability.
I would be a bit wary about this 3.5 now as it could be truncated. 3.4 has surpassed 61.8% retracement. will be watching my trades.

I don't know the technical background and stuff but updating my journal works fine. After I finish pressing submit the new post appears at the bottom of the page and all others with it. Using Firefox 2.xx.
Or do you mean navigating to the end of the posts when reading? Then you just need to press the "Last" link under your subscribed threads and you get to the end directly. New posts always are added to the end of threads either way.
Does this help?
If not just shoot Merlin a message, I'm sure he's glad to help http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Something nice to wake up to @ 2am out here
Thank you SeekingLight. Looks like it is fixed now.
I have to make good here. I need to buy a new laptop. This old one I am using cannot handle my MT4 platform and my Broker's Java Based Platform. I keep running out of memory.
Then my MT4 platform crashes and my browser stops functioning and worse, it takes so long to shutdown and restart.
Anyway........ I just woke up and I could not believe my eyes. First that I had to revise my count again (although, that should have been expected as I am no expert in this really to get it perfect) and how the price has actually performed in the market.
I assume, that nose dive again was because of Mr B although at 10 when I turned in.... price was hovering at the 15m candle that saw the succeeding candles dive.
Currently, I am watching for this price to to go beyond 3.3 on its way to 3.5 and face a much bigger correction than this 3.4 for that wave 4 in 5.5 = 5.5.4
Looking at potential tops for this 3.5 at 2.0565 and 2.0617

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Cable moving up or down?
Welcome to the thread Marketwavez.
Trying to hold on to your advice in one of the threads to focus on EW and not to listen to the news. It is just hard sometimes as I see the news almost always.
In time I should be able to develop balls of steel to hold on to EW counts.
Is that 161.8% @ 2.0565?
Partly I doubt Cable going up any further as this supposed to be leg 1 of wave 5 up did not clear the top of the previous wave 3. This could be wave b and previous down wave was already wave a of the major correction. Then all my previous counts are rendered wrong.
But if it does still go up, then this current move down could be a sub wave 2 and subwave 3 will be at either of the following levels : 2.0601, 2.0659, 2.0743 and 2.0887.
Then this means we could be seeing sub-wave 5 of this 3.5 to shoot up to almost 2.1000....

Elliott Wave Count on the Chart is NOT a software. It is an indicator I noticed that puts a label or title on the left corner.
I am no coder but I tried to see the code and checked where the label line came from. When I found it.... I just replaced it with the label Elliott Wave Counting then turned all colored parts and lines that the indicator would normally show to NONE. So when I attach it to my Chart, nothing shows up except the label. http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/big_grin.gif
I needed something to label my charts with and to constantly remind me to stick to it.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Indicator
It is just the the original Fibonacci Indicator in Meta quotes which when attached to your chart shows a label on the upper left corner. That indicator provides the actual price beside the Fib levels everytime you draw the fibonacci levels when you use the fib retracement tool on MT4.
You just open the code and modify it be replacing the label line in the code.
The indicator is only used to put a title at the top and nothing more.
I find it difficult to rely on a software for counting. It slows down my learning process. I believe that I have to take on the challlenge of learning and understanding Elliott Wave Theory or Counting. Not to mention I can't afford the expensive softwares.
If I learn it and am able to apply it with substantial accurracy, I need not be dependent on any software and I will only have myself to blame if I fail.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Closing 2 positions at a minimal profit
I just closed the 2nd and 3rd trades at a profit. I could not use my broker's SL feature as Sl need to be around 30pips from current position which leaves me on the red on this trade.
Got 26 and 28 pips.Sould have been a total of almost 85 pips if I closed when I saw it reach 2.0546. But now it looks like I am going to regret closing those trades as it has gone back up by 4 pips.
Anyway, I left my first position LIVE so we will see what happens. Better to have some pips in the bag for the Day and this early. I can try and get back in later in a better entry point. Direction may be clearer by then.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif The many possible interpretations using EWT
This is what often makes EWT difficult for beginners. There are so many potential counts or interpretations of the price chart. And I can drown in the labelling system as I see many "A"s and "W"s orduplicate numbers in different sizes and colors.
It was therefore important for me to come up with my own labelling system that does not drown me in all those Wave Labels. Switching charts between timeframes can be a hustle for me as with most of the labels I use allow me to visualize price position in current wave or the higher degree waves it is in.
IF we are still in a bigger wave up, then we must be in a current complex correction wave2.
Attached is another possible count as I see it.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Here is another Possible Count
If we have seen the top of this impulse wave..... and we are now in the higher degree correction wave, then it is passible that we are dipping for the wave Y.
Price needs to break at 2.0519 to invalidate my previous wave trend up.
I plan to get back on my Long Position if price breaks 2.0555. Otherwise I would look for price to dip beyond 2.0519 then go for Short trades.
Currently out of the market.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif ON a wave Y down of a wave 4 down
I am going to follow the last chart I posted above which has the Light Green Labels showing that we are in a wxy or wxyxxz corrective wave.
I am attaching new chart below.
on my demo account. The Sell Stop I placed was triggered and right after that touch, price suddenly went up putting me on the negative. I was not around to baby sit that.. I managed to get some pips though when it went down to 490 again.
Anyway, on my chart you will see buy and sell lines. I do hedge on this demo.
But on my LIVE account, I entered a LONG Trade right before the US News. I was thinking that ( "which I now want to kick myself for thinking and not wait to follow the EW Count and get a better entry) I could take my chances on this one.
If I trade Long and the news goes with me, then that was good. However , if the news went against me, I would just hold on to my position until it goes on my direction again.
Now, I think that is the real beauty of EW Theory. We have or I feel we have a fighting chance at preserving our resources ( capital ) . There is that " greater possibility that the trend is going to pick me up and allow me to ride the wave when it goes my way again. Knowing that we are still in a corrective wave and aware of how big a corrective wave we are in, allows us to somehow project our SL.
Now back to the chart, currently, wave projection is for a C or Y wave. Now here is were I still have to continue my research. I need to know Price projections for the corrective waves specially when labels are in WxY or WxYxxZ format.
This is my current take. I am not going to add on to my position right now or trade live until it goes back to its wave trend up. I will use this time to study more on corrective waves and their projections.
http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/big_grin.gif Unlike before, I was always itching to trade. This time, I will exercise a little more patience in waiting. There is the Demo anyway for testing. Now I understand how those "snipers" feel. This has become less stressful for me.
But mind you, this is now walk in the park. I still need to study a lot. But what is nice about this is that I like doing it. Trading is a field that involves multiple subjects and discipline.
OK. Off to our charts again and I will be back looking for answers to my questions.
Happy Trading Everyone

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Cable Projections I came up with
I have been dabbling with Wave projections from various starting points and I am presenting below Levels which I came up with.
These are projections for the end of a wave 5 in a wave 3, while others are projections for end of wave 3.
2.0643
2.0648
2.0759
2.0771
2.0933
2.0959
2.1009
2.1218
2.1263
2.1593
Extreme Levels
2.1689
2.1753
2.2550
2.2559
Price levels above have just been arranged chronologically. However, they actually come from various computations and projections using Elliott Wave or from what I would say (my own understanding of what Elliott Wave Theory was trying to teach me) and Levels of retracement I am currently testing.
If I am wrong, it is not because of Elliott Wave Theory. It would most likely be due to my failure to understand and apply the Wave Theory in my Analysis.
Anyway, I have therefore come to the conclusion that with an outlook such as what I have presented above, it would be wise to practice swing trading.
I have a confession to make..... I know I said I would not trade that previous correction. Well... I could not resist the itch and I got burned. I lost all the pips I profited since the beginning of the week in less than 24 hours.
Really never counter trade a main trend. Anyway, getting back to what I am proposing, this should be less stressful. I can leave a trade running and just move my SL Levels which I will layout and probably adjust as time goes on. And then I will study on how to and when to add on to an existing trade.
So here is the plan:
@ Market Open :
Open a Long Trade for GBPUSD. with TP @ 2.1750
SL 1 @ 2.0450 when reaching 2.0625 move SL to
SL 2 @ 2.0500 when reaching 2.0750 move SL to
SL 3 @ 2.0650 when reaching 2.0850 move SL to
SL 4 @ 2.0750 when reaching 2.0930 move SL to
SL 5 @ 2.0830 when reaching 2.1000 move SL to
SL 6 @ 2.0900 when reaching 2.1100 move SL to
SL 7 @ 2.1000 when reaching 2.1200 move SL to
SL 8 @ 2.1050 when reaching 2.1300 move SL to
SL 9 @ 2.1150 when reaching 2.1500 move SL to
SL 10 @ 2.1350 when reaching 2.1600 move SL to
SL 11 @ 2.1500 then let it run to 2.1750.
Note that this is more like Position Trading. Incase I get stopped out. I will just have to get back to the drawing board and re assess my Counts. Then find a suitable re-entry point. This should get us pre-occupied on this trade for the rest of the year.
Or should I say, allow us more time for other things. If I have stayed on with the trend last week, I could have increased my capital by at least 90% which was already up by 60% for the week only. Because I played with fire by counter trading the main trend, I am back to what I started with last Monday.
Hopefully with this, I can shift to a more strees free trading. It was stress free trading Elliott Wave last week until I played with fire... Good thing I did not put everything in my trades.
EG
PS. Above is an amateurish attempt at using Elliott Wave Analysis in projecting Price of GBPUSD. It should not be considered as a recommendation for your live trades. Trade at your own risk. And trade with caution. I have wiped out several accounts in almost 1 year of studying forex trading on my Live and demo accounts. You would not want to know how much I have lost on my LIVE Account.

I apologize Marketwavez for not acknowledging the chart above which you also posted much earlier here. Yes we could be near the end of Wave 5 ( 2.0643 ) in a big Wave 3 if our projection is 100% of wave 1 if
W0 = 1.9619
W1 = 2.0206
W2 = 2.0055
W3 =
100% = 2.0643
161.8% = 2.1009
261.8% = 2.1593
Other values I posted are ends of Wave 3 being part of other sub-waves smaller than this bigger Wave 3.
I also look into Chart Patterns and it is true that we are nearly finished in an upward wedge. If this wedge plays out we could be in a retracement for Wave 4 with projections of from at least 20% up to 50% but less than 61.8% unless this wave 4 goes for the maximum of going near the end of Wave 1 but not overlapping it.
My view above and the various projected levels are just my amateurish EW Count and I have placed a caution with it that these are not to be traded Live by others as this could be risky. I trade it with my own money but not with all my money as I know there are risks here.
SL Levels I have enumerated above still carry a lot of risk. I could get stopped out even before the bullish trend resumes. But it is a system I am willing to test.
If Wave 3.5 ends at 2.0625 for example, retracements could be 2.0490, 2.0407, and 2.0339. This is why I could still lose money in this trade if indeed we retrace at 2.0625 for our wave 4.
On the brighter side though, we could take this opportunity to enter for a Wave 5 from a lower beginning and thus gather more pips till it ends finally.
Thank you for providing your insights here.
It is much appreciated.
EG

If we are in a Wave 4, we may have just finished it at 50% retracement from that top. It is a possibility I would consider to support my new long which I placed at the open and retraced on me for 25 pips.
Missed to enter at that Dip for my Long and also missed to save 84 pips total on 3 short positions I closed last Saturday.
But life goes on and I made a decision. I will do my best to ride this wave up now.

Yesterday, I managed to get a few pips in the pocket from the market open. I lost a few too. But overall, it was a good enough considering that I was not on my computer for nearly whole of the asian session.
16 gained 3 lost for a net of 13 pips. I missed to gain that shot up to 2.0604 though near the Euro session which could have given me around 40-50 pips additional. My TP was set at 2.1000. So I missed that.
Anyway, I have 1 remaining LIVE Long Trade @2.0569 which is currently at neg10 pips. I was hoping to close it atthe least @ breakeven so I can free all my capital and wait for a Dip to 2.0520-540 and place my NEW Long Trades from there with SL @ 2.0490. From here, I expect us to start that ride up to 2.0700 then 2.0900 and 2.1000.
Attached is the record of the LIVE trade yesterday. Forward trade on the table is about 10 pips lower than what you see on your Platformand so is the value at closing time. Brokers spread is at 7 pips. So if I was trading this on a broker's platform using MT4, I think I would still be on better +pip count.
Definitely, I will not trade the run downhill at this point. I will just wait for it to reach my target levels then enter my Long trades from there.

This is my current count .
This means that we reached end of Wave 5 or 3.5.1.5 @2.0602.
Let me put this in another way. My Objective is the end of a Big Wave 3 @ 2.1000 up to 2.1500. For now, we could be near the end of a Wave B inside wave 2 inside wave5 of wave 3. http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/big_grin.gif It would be better if you look at the chart.
On this big Wave 3 I would look forward to the following :
2.0842 up to 2.0900 towards the end of July such as July 27 perhaps
2.1000 to 2.1144 around Mid-August or as early as 8-11
Like many other forex traders who are searching for more knowledge about the way the market behaves, most important on the list is knowing when to expect the market to turn substantially to make it worthwhile to exit a winning trade and re-enter at a new low for Long trades or a new high for short trades. This way, we maximize profit potential. Or for the more aggressive ones.... they can trade the retracement of a major trend.
My Elliott Wave understanding is still based on the Price projections for Forward and Retracement Movement of Price. We see potential target levels based on studies made by so many people that traders have already come to a sort of conclusion that we could use these as guides.
So that when price reaches 1 of this levels, traders can exit their trades or use it as a confirmation that they are indeed in the type of wave they have been trading and therefore need not exit but allow the trades to run to the target of the next higher degree wave.
Currently I am experimenting on ways to project price with time. I have tried looking into materials on Gann. There is just so much that Icould not digest it. It probably works. But at this point I am finding some difficulty comprehending them.
I am not giving up on my quest to determine time with price. So I am working on something different to determine if there is a relationship in visual observation and with minor computations to the actual time of a projected price.
First 2 above would be a beginning result of that experiment.
Just to make it clear to everyone..... I am not selling anything here. I am just on a journey to find a method or system that would help in Projecting Price and Time which should enhance Results of my Elliott Wave Counts.
Good Trading Everyone
EG
PS. I just realized, that it could be possible that maybe somebody out there is aware of any Elliott Wave Material or reference that includes time in its projection. If it does exist, could somebody point me to that direction? Thank you.

Chart by Marketwavez played out very well. We seem to have set 2.0652 as the top of this WAVE 3.
The Chart I am attaching now would show where my new targets are for this retracement. This is on 4 Hour chart.
Although my 5 and 15minute charts still show some room for going up, main trend will be going down for now. Targets are shown on the chart. Including probable fibonacci levels to use.
The move up on the 5min chart is probably the wave x inside a Wave A and will then continue down for the wave y in Wave A. But remember that this Wave A could also be a 5 wave movement.
Happy Trading Everyone
EG
PS. move up on the 5m chart could end @ 38.2% 2.0547 or at 50% 2.0555-0560

I have traded long here for what I think is the 4.B.c. If I am mistaken, I will leave the trade running and protect it with an increased SL.
Then I will wait for the next Dip and check for the new target.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Starting Over AGAIN
I hope Merlin does not mind me posting more of my charts. I am starting over again on my chart as I have garbled my previous counts. Starting on the monthly and slowly going down into the slower time frames may help me better understand and correct my EW Counts.
I am more of a visual person so I prefer to see charts rather than just texts on how and where the EW Count is now.
I will be posting the charts one by one as I finish them.

Trying to focus
More specifics:
Now working on M3.3.5.3.3.4.
This should have the folowing levels as targets:
38% which is normal - 2.0425
50% which is normally the maximum for wave 4 as retracement from wave 3 - 2.0354
61.8% as a probable accident? @ 2.0284
Wave 4 is normally less than 50% and normally 38% of wave 3
When M3.3.5.3.3.4 is finished
Next target is M3.3.5.3.3.5 or M3.3.5.3.3 on the bigger wave degree. This is 161.8% of M3.3.5.3.1

I maybe wrong on this , but if this goes against me, will just increase SL to protect Trade and maybe enter a new Long Trade when this bottoms this wave for Wave C.
However, what you see for Wave B seems just a 5 part wave which can be the wave a inside a zigzag Wave B.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Leaving for the afternoon here
Leaving my trade to run.
Small wave c of Big Wave B Target @ 50% of small wave a 2.0539.
May not be able to trade Big Wave C down. But will leave 3 Buy Limit Orders or trades at following levels based on Wave A relationship with Wave C Projections in Percentage.
61.8% - 2.0284
100% - 2.0055
161.8% - 1.9686
Conservatively, I should only have just 1 at the 61.8%. so that if it goes further down to 100% or 161.8%, I will still have enough for my increased SL. But since I am on demo for this, I will leave 3.
If I trade this LIVE, then I will only leave 1 at 61.8%
May you all harvest lots of pips on his Cable Trade.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif GBPUSD Update into US Open
GBPUSD Update.
Currently, down by 188 pips, already earned 132. I am letting the current negative trade stay until I can identify the bottom here.
I could probably ride the wave down, but will not. Will get back into a new trade.. that is add to my existing one on the Cable later when it bottoms. I will put in an additional trade.
This is where it is sometimes difficult when you are trading live. That is me speaking from experience. More often than not, emotions kick in.
The way I see it now is that .... it may be necessary to have a big SL like 200 to 300 for GBPUSD, AUDUSD and NZDUSD.
Although I do not recommend that to anybody. I will most likely adopt it on my trades even on LIVE ones. And I will only have myself to kick if I make a mistake on my EW Count. So do not base your trades on my charts. You have to know what, why and how you will trade a currency pair.
So here is the update on my Cable Chart

Hi El grande
was reviewing somre of yor charts
----------------------------------------------------
quite frankly , they are confusing -http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/confused.gif
They are good but confusing at times
- People looking at your last series of charts will be confused .....
you basically have too much going on on the individual charts
---------------------------------------------------------
Here are some suggestions -
I think you should leave the WXY formations alone
Don't label anything on any chart WXY anymore .....
Please Stop , if you can ( I'm only trying to help )
-------------------------------------------------------------
I have read Nelson Elliott' s work and he doesn't
speak of WXY formations , So forget about them
Concentrate on finding ABC Corrections
this is the heart of Elliott Waves Formations
also try to locate end of E-waves
I haven't seen you point out any E-Waves anywhere !
Why is this ?
- are you not aware of End of E-wave Formations ?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
E-wave are important because they are occurring
most of the time within Consolidation periods ........
---------------------------------------------------------
by the way
the best ( 3 ) places to look to enter a market
when utilizing Elliott Waves
is the End of Wave B or the End of Wave 2
and also what is called an Extended 5th wave
(an extend 5th wave is 5 minor waves waves within an end of a 5th wave )
-----------------------------------------------------------
Then End of a wave 4
is the worst Place to look to enter a market
Why ?
- because this is where consolidation is most likely to occur .
This is statistically speaking of course ......http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif

Here is the latest Long-term Usd/Gbp Wave -count (Weekly Bars )
----------------------------------------------------
Simple and Clear ..............( No use of WXY )
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
See Chart Below
-------------------------------------------------------------
Gbp/Usd appears to be topping out at the End of a Wave 5
and moving towards Wave A Low .............It's that simple

to marketwaves abc correction with adding a few lettered phase such as wxyz is not a problem. If you really study about pure ew theory u will see the "numbered phase" and "lettered phase". find the meaning. keep it up guys.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif An Invitation To All
fellow traders...
at first EW Analysis can be very intimidating. but if you really set your mind into it, i think you will be amazed at how it helps you analyze price direction.
very few really post their EW thoughts because they fear that their counts are not correct.
i have taken that risk of getting ridiculed by posting what i thought was the EW Count from my end. because I believe that by laying my cards on the table aside from studying EW on my own, I can improve my analysis. others will be able to help me learn it. Just like in class, we need to participate to learn and share what we learn.
I opened this thread in the discussion area hoping to generate discussion on this particular subject. it is not for making calls but for setting out to show where I see price going and WHY.
unless we show where we think price is going ( potential levels ) and explaining or showing why we think price is going a particular way, then we will never understand EW Theory.
This procedure is seldom discussed so it was very difficult for me to follow developments in EW Theory applied in actual charts.
others may explain their current position yet leave out the bigger picture. It is very important that we know were price level is in terms of EW Analysis in all timeframes so we may know the overall picture. small waves we are in on the shorter time frames are part of bigger waves on the next level of time frame. these are further on part of another bigger wave up another timeframe and so on.
I do encourage the rest of you to post your charts so we can discuss them if you have questions.or need to verify something about your analysis. This is not a journal to which many think should only hold their own charts. This is a discussion thread and I am glad that marketwavez is willing to support this thread and share with us his expertise in EW Analysis.
I may not be able to answer everything. You may need to have some patience until someone knowledgeable like marketwavez could reply to your query.
Maybe as guideline or priority, we will focus on the USD Major crosses. I initially started with just the GBPUSD. until I started toying with AUDUSD and NZDUSD. I have not focused so much on the last 2. But I believe marketwavez is willing to help on the rest of the major USD crosses. To me , EW is not a walk in the park and it needs a lot of focus and concentration. I am not sure if someone out there has focused or is doing EW Counts on the Euro and the GBP secondary crosses.
Anyway, try to post your charts and we will try to reply to them. But do not be angry if they are not answered at once or never answered at all. there is no harm in trying.
posting takes up so much time as many who do post will admit. so patience my friends.
remember there is really no right or wrong in projecting price using EW. There are only percentages in probabilities. join me here in generating more discussion in EW Counting.

bohebolo i think that you have point 5 to low, couse wave 5 should be shorter than wave 3,but on this picture is not. i think that it should go down to 2,0130.
nice day

Posted about my attempt at GBPUSD here
http://forexfactory.com/showpost.php...8&postcount=15
Big picture is in
http://forexfactory.com/showpost.php...1&postcount=13
and USDJPY
http://forexfactory.com/showpost.php...&postcount=729
I'm just not sure what we're in NOW. It's clear to me the last lows we made finished a structure, either abc-A on GPUSD or a 123 and now the 4 chop sideways before a last 5 down, but then we'd not be doing a correction but an impulse down, to be followed up?
Neither am I sure whether what we finished on USDJPY...ANY input would help
:P

Hi Money,
1 of 3 EW rules is "wave 3 can't be the shortest".
But it doesn't has to be the longest.
hope this helps... http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/winking.gif

Just a thought....if you were wondering what to label that little wave after 4 you would not be wrong to label it as the 5th wave, wave 5 doesn't have to go past wave 4. It is refered to as a truncated 5th. Only occurs on the 5th wave.
So that would be the end of your larger wave A. You may find we are up part of the way on the B wave now.
Regards.

If you're looking for a simple correction in the form of an ABC then B must be smaller than A and C at least .618 of A(weak) or equal (normal) or greater than A (strong C).
At least as far as I know. Not that I know much of EW http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif

the chart GBPUSD shows that we are in the wave C which can be subdivided into 5 waves. I am going to sell on american data (nonfarm) when the fifhe wave will be formed. By the way,I meant that today we can see high volatility

Been shorting it a bit lately =)
Confirmation for this last push was loss of 1.2020 for me with 1.1930 first s/r as .618 of wave three for 5 I think? Not sure. Around 233 pips off the top of this wave 5 down, also a nice fib nr http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/big_grin.gif
P.S. USDX is still above key 80.00, trading at 80.28 right now which is higher than the last low on the 24th July which was 80.02. USDCHF is not equal to the USD per se http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Increased activity
I am happy to note that there has been an increased level of activity in this thread even though I was not around most of the time.
I was busy with my other business that needed a bundle of things to take care of. Anyway, my last post at post 165 remains basically my position till we finish what I see as a Wave 5 UP. You can go back to post 149 and 152 for my charts.
I will maintain that we finished Wave 4 down at 2.0181 and that we are currently in the Wave 5 Up now. This view will only change if we go lower than 2.0181 from were we are right now.
There are a number of reasons why I think we are in a wave 5 up now from 2.0181.
1. from wave 3 @ 2.0652 A retracement for Wave 4 is allowed till the tip of Wave 1 @ 2.0206. It was surpassed though . But think it was with in the tolerance range.
2. 2.0181 was within the vicinity range of a 161.8% of Wave A:4 projection for Wave C:4.
I do not see price going lower than 2.0181 now until we finish Wave 5 or M3.3.5.3.3.5. This puts us at the end of the next higher wave degree Wave 3 or M3.3.5.3.3 We would then expect a Wave 4 to come down to below 2.0000 up to 1.9600 as retracement from Wave 3.
My current objectives for Wave 5 in this Impulse Wave up we are in right now would be :
2.0543
2.0768
2.1000
2.1200
Please note that my projection levels are just my own projections. They may seem too high for many of you out there. I believe that I can take these positions as a swing trader. Remember that there will be so many ups and downs before we reach the levels I think that this GBPUSD Pair will reach.
I started a new demo account for this since we hit the 2.0181
my account has increased by 23.4%. I was not able to maximize earnings on this initial phase of Wave 5 because I was not often on my computer. There were days I would be at a negative 78pips. BUt I held on thinking that it will come back up again as thisis a Wave 5. As of Early Saturday morning, I already exited all my trades thinking I could enter at a lower level and ride this Wave 5 up again. I exited to early and missed around 45 additional pips. But that is ok. price is a little lower than were I exited last Saturday here in Asia. I can eneter a long again for probably a TP of almost 20-30 pips before it comes down again for a Wave 4 within the Wave 3 of this Big Wave 5 up.
Or I can let it go up for awhile and wait till it retraces for that small wave 4 then I can hop in again for the continued ride UP.
hhhmmmmm I hope I did not lose anybody out there on that circle of waves within waves.
EG

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Chart Differences
Looks like my counts differ from that of Serega, Bohebolo and Africanpips. I am not saying I am right and you are wrong. Just aknowledging the differences in our counts.
It seems that mine is same as that of SeekingLight.
Marketwaves' Weekly chart seem to be heading the same way UP. Note that his DAily Chart shows Price overshooting that Diagonal triangle UP.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Vertical Analysis
Hey EG, I hope you don't mind me taking up this space but as you say if we can all learn together, in a positive learning environment, then all the better for us.
Well I have done this Vertical Analysis of some of the more significant charts for Cable. The Analysis starts on the Monthly then down to the 4h chart.
The monthly is a little congested at the top but I think you can get my wave count. I believe I have started at a significant bottom.
On the monthly I believe we are in/on wave 5 or at its top, but not too worried about it as the smaller time frames are of more significance. I have gone to the Monthly as part of the big picture or framework to guide the smaller time frames more accurately.
I will post my weekly, daily and 4h charts in separate posts (easier to scroll than open up files all the time)
So this is my Monthly chart (numbers in red).....see if you agree. the rest follow.

Yes. I considered that as a significant low too to start with. However, our difference is that (referring to your RED numbers ) your red Wave 1 is only a subwave 1 for me. My wave 1 for that stretch is @ your Red Wave 3.
Your Red wave 2 is only my subwave 2 of my Wave 1 of 1 higher degree. Your RED wave 4 is my Wave 2.
Weekly chart:
I was referring to how your first Blue Wave 1 near the EMA line.

On the 1 hour chart.....
Although price went down a little at market opening Monday in Asia, then is currently up at 2.0440 now.... I think this will still go down to 2.0350 upto 2.0330 from here for this wave 4.
Just my thoughts on Cable now.

IT seems everyone except me is on the SHORT Trade Ride.
Currently stuck on my Long Trade. I had 3 Long Trades at different Points. Closed 1 at -46 before I went to sleep to reduce exposure as I still thought there were signs of reversal.
Still holding 2 Long trades @ - 120 and -100. I decided against hedging them early this morning.
After reviewing my charts again this morning when I got back to my computer, I think that there is a possibility that this would still revert to the Long trade now based on my 4 hour chart. I have revised my counts on the 15minute and 1 hour charts.
I would totally agree that my count up to the 4hour chart is wrong if the 2.0181 level is broken as this is end of my wave 4.
At this point, I will have to close all my long position and take this loss on 2 trades more. I will then have to catch that Short Trade Ride for its last leg.
Chart I am attaching shows potential levels if my wave count works out.
Hey africanpip, clusterwise and seekinglight. Thank you for presenting your counts. I do not mind if I am on the otherside of your trades. Because you may all be right and I am wrong. Others like me will learn from your counts as they visit this thread.
Clusterwise... I look forward to your lead...
Have a profitable trade evryone.

For the abc's of forex challenged - US$ is US$ index.
US$ is not every pair that has a US$ in it.
+ + +
Now, no self respecting EW watcher but more importantly trader, tries to pin a number or letter on every swing. X's and Y's and Z's are gimmicks. OK maybe the occasional X, but not to stretch and continue a count that just isn't there.
The markets don't move in EW form 100% of the time.
These comments are general and not pointed at any one particular chart. Just my thoughts - so don't take offense.

Considering the rejection and power at the "e" I think we just might go go go if this is indeed an expanding triangle.
Would also put the carry trade back alive and so forth. I've also tried being bearish on this one, but support kept holding ;p

Hi EG,
I have closed all short trades .0185. That was the target I set myself from .0421 so I am satisfied with the outcome. It maybe premature to call the end C now but I have labelled it non-the-less. I am quite happy to sit out until the outcome of the inflation report from the UK.

Hey Clusterwise....
The wave ride has been 1 smooth ride even though this is a corrective wave .
Thank you for leading the way.
From your chart, Wave count for the cable is currently on a Big Wave B structure 3-3-3. And specifically, this is now the sub-wave c up going to the area of 2.0652 Wave 5 High.
Am I correct to assume that this corrective wave 4 will be surfing the range of Wave 5.3 high ( 2.0652 ) and Wave 5.1 ( 2.0132 )High?
Wave 5.4 end is not supposed to go lower than Wave 5.1 end. So I think we are stuck in this range until it finishes by 1st week of September ( 09-02-07 ).
This assumption is based on the fact that Wave 5.4 is complex and that supports another assumption that Wave5.4 is equal to Wave 5.3 time-wise.
I know Clusterwise has commented that 5th wave is truncated.
Maybe.... and that is just maybe..... that was just a Wave 2.
Look at how it has retraced by 78.6% of what I think is wave 1 in this sub wave c.
Just another of my assumptions ....
EG

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif interesting formation
Well an interesting day and an interesting chart forming.
Fortunately my counts have been good to me the last week or so and I have been getting some...(pips, that is). I am not so sure about whats forming or what it will turn into I am just carrying on with my count until I see it differently and as long as my RR ratio is good I shouldn't get into too much trouble if it goes wrong. but no trades open at the moment, just listening to the reed buck whistling in the bushes.
But here is my 4hr count which has luckily worked lately. It may all change as the future reveals itself.....but as our good friend EG illudes us to, its all about probability!

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Overview
Attached is how Cable is seen using Multiple Tools and how I see it using EW Theory.
ALL Messed Up or You can call me a Lunatic. But isn't it just amazing to see how multiple tools somehow blend to show "POTENTIAL" map of how Cable would look like in the coming days? and that includes EW.

Here is the Chart without the Gartley. It some how hid the view of most of the counts.
The Vertical Lines are Cycle Lines which is a tool in the MT4 Platform too. Trying to incorporate Cycle and Pattern into the Analysis.
What is probably missing now is the Gann Component. Fibonacci is actually part of the overall "Mess". http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif) for Price and Time.
Let us see who gets crazy first.
hmmm... Now I noticed that I missed Trendlines, Support and Resistance Lines and even the Andrew's Pitchfork. Then probably by then..... one will never have enough time to check on it all.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Another early morning rambling
It is agreed that we have reached the end of Big Wave 5.3 and now in a Wave 5.4 Corrective Wave.
Basic Guideline for Wave 4 is that it must never overlap with Wave 5.1...... Based on this Rule, I have drawn 2 Horizontal lines on my chart to indicate the range of Wave 5.4 price. Wave 5.1 top @ 2.0132 and Wave 5.3 Top @ 2.0652.
By the Rule of alternation, I think that Wave 5.2 was a Sharp pattern so I assume that Wave 5.4 should display a sideways movement.
And what better pattern to show this sideways corrective wave than the flat corrective wave. This is the reason why I am assuming that price would go up some more before it goes down again up to the 5.1 high of 2.0132.
Now using Chart Patterns, you will see that the Symmetrical Pattern That african pip showed in his chart can be blended into our analysis to support the assumption that Price will still go up for the continuation of sub wave c in the 5.4.B wave.
This is further supported as potentially possible using the principles of falling wedge patterns where a 123456 count would show that count 6 is due to break out of that downward trendline.
If you check Gartley, Harmonic and Pesavento Patterns, again you will see the "Potential " move.
Then try the Cycle lines and there again you will see possibilities.
If somebody could apply the Square of 9 based on Gann, Maybe we can have a better analysis with its Time and Price Factor.
These are all just possibilities. EW is very challenging on its own. But for those who wish to know how it is with other tools, then here is how you will see it on other more visual tools.
EG
PS. I forgot about the Fibonacci extention. You can use it to project 5.4.B end or its 5.4.B.c using the 100% and the 161.8% and knowing as other traders have observed, Cable usually exceeds the 100 and the 161.8 levels. So we may still see it get to 2.0652 before it goes south again for the final 5.4.C Leg of the 5.4 Correctve wave.
If the timing is correct, we or the market will have enough time to show us this surfing the waves.

EG,
Looks like I am having to change my count here, so I am in agreement, at the moment, based on probability that we haven't seen the end of C yet.
Hey Money couldn't really make out your chart there bud. My eyes must be failing me......http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/moneyeyes.gif but I agree with your call.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif My Struggle
Hi Marketwavez.
I am still struggling with my counts. Still have not decided on whether I should really go Long or Short on Cable as of now.
Current scenario seems to have a number of alternative counts possible. BUt I will try to dissect my count and use other tools to see how I can narrow my choices....
As for my studying.... starting to digest more of what I read...
For now below are the premises I am basing mycounts on:
1. Price Range for 5.4 is between 5.1 @ 2.0132 and 5.3 @ 2.0652. Projections down to 2.000 and 1.9900 seem out of my range because 5.4 or wave 4 must never overlap with wave 1 or my 5.1 which has a highof 2.0132. See chart #2 Daily
2. Time Element - My Time computations puts my end of 5.4 projections around October 17-24. This is based on the following premises whereby Wave 4 is related to W3/ W0-W3 where W4 itakes longer to finish or parallel projections of W1-W3 based on the following Fib Levels Range of 138.2 - 161.8...... See Chart #2 Daily .
In the meantime Cable is expected to stay within this range and continue with its corrective phase until it starts its Wave 5.5 up by Mid October.
3. Rule of ALTERNATION - Based on this rule, if Wave 2 makes a zigzag or a sharp movement, then Wave 4 will be a complex corrective wave and exhibit a sideways movement. In this case, 5.2 was a Zigzag/sharp so this will contribute or strengthen my assumption that 5.4 will continue to extend its corrective state.
4. Candlestick formation - I would describe that last daily candlestick of Aug 10 Friday as having a long shadow ( long lower wick and lonegr than range of candlestick) and most likely be interpreted as a Bullish signal on the daily chart. This is a strong signal if it occurs on the higher timeframe like the daily.
5. Trendlines - It could also be observed that Price bounced of that lower trendline formed by 7-30-07 @ 2.0181, 8-08-07 @ 2.0156 on 8-10-07 @ 2.0152. It could also be noted that candlesticks have been forming higher lows from that bounce.
Looking forward to a trendline breakout for Cable based on Downward Trendline formed by 7-24-07 @ 2.0641 , 8-06-07 @ 2-0461 and 8-09-07 @ 2.0393.
6. H4 Chart - Digesting my observations above and observing the 4H chart now, I would assume that Cable is on a sub wave c of a Wave B up ( 5.4.B ). I have more reason to assume that this is 5.4.B Up instead of 5.4.C Down because of the Time element. It would look too pre mature to assume that Cable is now on its way down to finish 5.4.C.
Besides, it is too near what I believe is the bottom of 5.4 which should not overlap with 5.1 @ 2.0132.
7. Falling Wedge in an UPTREND - The symmetrical triangle we were looking at last Friday failed with price breaking down the upward trendline forming the bottom of that symmetrical tringle on the 4H chart. That leaves us with the FALLING WEDGE in an UPTREND.
This has a count of 6 within the wedge and as it breaksout of the trendline at the upper edge of this falling wedge, we count that as on the way to Count 7 which is the price projection max for this scenario.
8. Blending this with EW, Assuming that the price breakout occurs, we can then check price level projections thru EW. the wedge was a tool to help find price direction or validate the 5.4.B count.
Wave C is projected based on its known % relationship with Wave A (See the Fib Extention levels in Aqua )
61.8
100
161.8
Coral Dotted line is Count 7 projection for the Uptrend Falling Wedge
5.4.B could still go as high as FE 200 @ 2.0708. if this turns out to be an expanded flat. But I could be wrong in this assumption as zigzags, flats and irregular/expanded flats may not be considered as complex or sideways corrective waves. Choices would be horizontal triangles, double three and triple threes which would mean price will not reach or last high of 2.0652 yet until it is on its way to Wave 5.5 ( that is if it doesnot turn out to be truncated.
Ok...... This is about everything I have put into my Wave count considering other tools.
May we all profit this week.
EG..

please read this file about the origins of Elliott Waves
--------------------------------------------------------------
Pay close attention to Page 4 of this document where you see " E waves "
- As i was telling you before
Please stop labeling your charts with WXY sequence !
If you read the tutorioal below about Elliott Waves you will see there is no mention of WXY .
..... So why do you use them ?
Also you will see what I was talking about with E waves
You have so many charts in here and none of them have an E wave on them ......
2 weeks ago you asked what is an E wave
Well Africanpip posted this file last week .... It's very helpful !

These occur in combinations, double and triple three's, Elliott labelled them differently, or a flat followed by a zig zag but mostly a combination which is horizontal in structure or character. These occur in corrective waves. W and Y in double zig zag and/or double three's. Z in triple zig zags or triple three's. X the label for the actionary waves between.

Hi elgrande
sorry if i post the chart on this way, because i would like everyone to see the details over there
The blue lines are fibo time zones, just give a look where will the retracement of this big cycle will end !!! as we finsih 5 cycles in terms of time according to fibo in terms of timing, then the line number 13 lies on 14-02-2010 , isn't going to be a very long down trend, specially USD index support that view :surprised
Many thanks

Hey EG,
On the 4 hr chart we are seeing classic 4th wave behaviour, with it trending sideways, building the base for the 5th wave down. I don't know at which point wave 4 will end but will speculate on around 9950/2. before dropping for 5.
At that point we will be at the end of wave C of larger wave A.
Looking at the pattern for the longer term, I think that because this larger A was a zig zag A-B-C the rest of the structure will be a Flat.
Regards.

http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon1.gif wave 4 done?
Hey EG,
You think wave 4 has bid us farewell and we are welcoming 5 down now? If it is then 4 never even hit 38.2% of 3. which I thought it would do at least. Or is this still part of 4's sideways movement.
I am long from 9840 so there is some drawdown here for me, If it is 5 then I might have to hedge till the end of 5, where ever that is? Possibly around 1.9500 area.
What you think?

I don't think following EW has to be broken down to the lowest and highest levels of wave counts unless one is trading all the different timeframes. Just one level above and below the timeframe one is trading. In other words if someone is trading the 60min chart watch the 240min and the 15min. Wave counts all the way out to monthly are not needed unless they are trading weekly charts.
I tend to agree about many timeframes as I mainly use the daily chart but I also dip into the hourly chart. My long term analysis was based on a daily chart, which is the timeframe I mainly use for analysis/trading.
Africanpip
Agreed, however it is good to know what the bigger picture is. It doesn't change all that quickly but to reference the large time frames from time to time, to keep in mind the larger trends is a good practice.
This is the key point as far as I am concerned as it gives current price action context. That context is useful in forming a view as to the larger price directions and as a consequence the probable limits of current moves. I think we are all tending to produce similar analysis of wave counts following the 20655 peak, however, dependent on your view of what wave finished at 20655 that will influence your expectations about future price patterns.
Of course I am simply expressing a preference here as it is entirely possible to trade from hourly charts with 4 hourly charts providing context and to be guided by price action on a short-term basis. I like to use longer timeframes on daily charts using less detail to provide the context for more immediate daily charts using more detail .
What I would be interested in hearing is what type of trading plan you guys use with your Elliott Wave analysis, although El Grande if you would like that question asked in a separate thread then I am happy to do that to keep this one on focus - counting.

Can Price break below 9645 this week ?
Let me ask two questions:
1) Why have you chosen an impulsive pattern rather than a corrective pattern ?
2) Assuming Wave 1-5 why have you counted Wave 3 as completed?
The reason I am asking the second question is that my current count is that Wave 3 is still in progress i.e. we are in 3.iv as opposed to 4. This is mainly based on the internal wave count. There is an argument that Wave "3" finished at 19652 based on 20655-20181-20463-19652 because Wave "1" x 161.8% = 767, which is fairly close to the actual drop of 811.
My current perspective regarding probable price action: I would expect wave "3" to complete soon and probably to finish somewhere around 19700 or above the 19652 low; the ideal target is 19696. I would then expect the larger "4" or c.4 to start, which should also see a complex correction at these levels but probably with a higher high than 19938 and an ideal target of between 19989-20080 assuming 19696 is the completion of the previous wave. I would need to revise the current count if 19652 is broken as it becomes likely that wave "5" or c.5 is in progress. Equally, I would need to revise the count if wave "4" goes above wave 1 at 20156.

Anybody using the Neely system and his indicator?
I havent quit figured it out yet, I am still reading the book which is pretty damm complicated. I havent found the indicator in his book so I was hoping some one could explain it. I see that it makes waves and zig zags but how do I count these?

Price Action ..........http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/happy.gif
-------------------------------------------------
Can Price break below 9645 this week ?
Let me ask two questions:
1) Why have you chosen an impulsive pattern rather than a corrective pattern ?
2) Assuming Wave 1-5 why have you counted Wave 3 as completed?
Hi
In the chart above I'm only interested in entering on a break below 9645
This is the one and only concern ...
If price keeps going up or consolidates there will be no entry
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't expect everyone to have the same wave count as you .
It doesn't matter what you think what wave-count is happening
because the markets are dynamic and besides we all don't think
the same way , so therefore is always a difference of opinion
This is what Forums like this are for -
- It's a place to exchange ideas and thoughts
So don't get caught up in the argument of who has
the Right or or Wrong wave-count ..........
Remember ,
All of Technical Analysis is Subjective -All is subject to change !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you dis-agree with any wavecount , That's ok
Just post your charts and state your case !
Time will then tell us all -......http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/winking.gif

Anybody using the Neely system and his indicator?
I havent quit figured it out yet, I am still reading the book which is pretty damm complicated. I havent found the indicator in his book so I was hoping some one could explain it. I see that it makes waves and zig zags but how do I count these?
Neely - will only confuse you ..... http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/confused.gif
I've got some files that do a better job at explaining ..............
and I've got some links if you need them , just send me a PM

I don't, that is why I have asked questions.
...so therefore is always a difference of opinion...It's a place to exchange ideas and thoughts
That's my understanding too; that is why I have asked questions. Given the above, I did expect an answer based on an Elliott Wave count...
So don't get caught up in the argument of who has
the Right or or Wrong wave-count ..........
I haven't.

MW,
Think you are missing data because although there is a breakdown of support I don't have a gap area for that period.

I tend to agree with marketwavez. I looked at Neely, version 1, many years ago and I have only more recently gotten hold of version 2. I think it is overly complex as Elliott Wave analysis has its moments where it seems that everything goes according to the "plan" but also has times where it is simply indecipherable without the benefit of hindsight.
After saying that, I would be interested to hear of people that use Neely and find it better than "standard" Elliott Wave.

Micro Wave Count on the Diagonal 5th wave
A throw over to the Upside is possible. But opefully it does not invalidate my count by going higher than 236.27
