今天RU0805给了我们一个日内交易的机会。我们来看5min图，在上一交易日形成了高位的1-2-3结构，今天低开，越过了2点，随后形成了Rh结构，我们在回调结束后入市卖出，初始止损在跳空缺口的下沿。由于是日内交易，没有加仓，一直持仓到低位1-2-3结构形成，在2点被突破时买入平仓。今天的交易共获利210点。具体操作如图：

交易是一项事业，我从内心里这样认为，但扪心自问：我做到了吗？回答却是否定的。
LP希望能出去看看，走一走，想暂时抛开北京的喧嚣和烦燥，于是决定去趟威海。但临行前我的上网问题也没有解决，于是抱着侥幸心理出发了。当时我已经满仓，有胶、玉米和大豆的仓位。周五途中，电话下单，告知不能下限价单，当时又没触及到止损价，未平。下午开盘时再询，已经封跌停，挂单最终未能成交，只好周一开盘平仓，最终多损失220点。
造成额外损失故然令人懊恼，但最让我沮丧的是：我并没有真正把交易作为...

今天（06.10.20）大豆价格未能继续创新高，形成了RH和第一TTE入市点。且TTE点到RH点的价差空间为2765-2758=7点，刚好能够以1/3的头寸收回直接成本，因此，明天如果价格突破此TTE点，将开仓三个单位的头寸。

Once in a while a pattern comes along discovered by little known trader that stood the test of time can be a useful tool to trade even in this modern-day markets. It only goes to show the validity of the pattern’s profitability factor.
This is a complex pattern that beginners may have a hard time finding them in their charts. Identifying double-top, double-bottom, triangles are easy. Then head-and-shoulders come in many shapes and sizes, these take more time to spot them. But the Gartleys are more complex in a sense that Fibonacci measurements must be taken into account unlike the traditional patterns. This pattern is also known as the Gartley Butterfly because of the movements of the prices and the drawn lines that connect to other pivots to give what looks like wings of a butterfly.
Below is a sample of what a Gartley pattern looks like. It may look like the astronomy chart at first but with time, the pattern will clearly appear for opportunities to trade.
The pattern begins with pivot X. For longs, prices move up pivot X to A, then retraces back to B. From B, another price advance to C, not higher than A. From C, prices again move back to the D, above X but below B. This is pattern that resembles letter M. For the short Gartley, the pattern resembles a W.
Gartley is more than just prices moves up and down, Fibonacci measurements between these pivots are taken seriously into consideration. So finding the pattern that fits these criteria can be a cumbersome task.

The line AX is the highest high and the lowest low of the patterns. All the pivots that follow are within 100% measurement of AX. Pivot B usually sits between 38% and 62% of AX. Pivot D sits between 62% and 78% and must be below pivot B. Pivot C sits between 68% and 78% of XA line.
Here’s an example:

GOOG made a big advance before stopping to consolidate in early November. Prices once again advanced but didn’t even reach the last high before pulling down again. This time the move went below the last low.

Figure 3 shows a close-up of the pattern from GOOG. With the Fibonacci and the pivots marked, the pattern becomes clearer. The blue lines indicates the path of the prices starting from X to A, B, C, then to D. Note that the pivot B stops just below 38.2%, this is right position. Then seeing that C is below A but above B while D is above X but above B. Pattern is complete. Since this is a bullish pattern, the prices are projected to move up higher than A. To be exact, the projected target is 127% of AD. In this scenario, GOOG is project to be completed at around 754.53.
As for the bearish Gartley pattern, the butterfly is turned upside down as shown in figure 4.

BA had been moving in a range following its advance. It finally capitulated at pivot X with a gap then proceeded lower to pivot A. It reversed to B; right between X and A. From there prices pulled back to C where again is half way from between B and A. From C, it completed the pattern by moving to D. With D near the X, but since it didn’t go higher than X, the pattern was still valid. From there, prices proceeded to move down, with a projected target from Fibonacci measurements shown in Figure 5 below.

The chart is zoomed in to illustrate the prices’ movement upon completion of the pattern. From pivot D, prices moved quickly down past A and eventually meet the projected 127% extension level ($85.76). Considering the distance of the move from the top, this makes a very big profit (from $106 to $85) when the opportunity is present.
The Gartley pattern is used mainly by experienced veteran due to its complex use of price action and Fibonacci measurements to find the opportunity. It takes time to understand the pattern and use it on a regular basis. But their potential for profit is high so it’s worth learning and using them.

Whether I am trading or instructing a stock, futures, or options class at Online Trading Academy, our lowest risk and highest reward trade each day is typically the opening gap entry. As soon as I suggest the trade to the class, someone always says: "I was told we are not supposed to trade the open because it is not for the novice trader". That is not exactly what we say at Online Trading Academy. What we say is that the open is not for the novice trader. It is, however, a fantastic opportunity for the astute trader who knows how to identify a novice trader. Most of the time, our entry is within seconds to minutes of the opening bell. There is a reason for this…
Why do prices gap up? They gap up because there are more buy orders at the open than there is available supply at the prior day's closing price. They gap down because there are more sell orders at the open than willing demand at the prior day's close. Therefore, market prices are almost always at price levels where there is a supply and demand imbalance (opportunity) at the open. Never forget, the successful market speculator simply finds markets where price is at levels where supply and demand are out of balance and trades them back to price levels where supply and demand is in balance. I started in this business on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, handling institution and retail order flow. Watching that order flow made it easy to see where prices were going to turn. For example, if we had 10 buyers and 5 sellers at a price level, as soon as the 5th seller sold, price had to rise. Having the orders in your hand makes this easy to see. Knowing exactly what this picture looks like on a price chart makes it even easier.
This week in the markets represented obvious opportunities related to gaps and order flow. We took advantage of them in class here in Chicago each day. We will do the same thing in Boston next week as two things never change. First, order flow works the same way it did 100 years ago and never changes. Second, novice traders are always present and are only growing in numbers. Here is how it all works…
Below we have a chart of the S&P as seen through the SPY, the ETF for the S&P. "A" represents a resistance (supply) level. We know this because price could not stay at that level, it had to fall because there are more willing sellers than buyers at that level. "B" is a day this week where price gapped right into that resistance (supply) level at the open. Here, the novice trader buys and the astute trader sells to that buyer. Remember, a supply level is a price level where there are more sellers than buyers. The last thing you want to do is buy at that price level and that is exactly what the novice trader did that morning on the open. In class here, we sold to that buyer and profited on the decline in price. We know this is a novice buyer because only a consistent losing trader would buy a gap up, after a rally in price, and into an objective supply level. The very next day at the open "E", price gapped down into an objective demand level "D". Only a novice trader would sell a gap down, after a decline in price, and into an objective demand (support) level, "D". We simply bought from that novice seller and profited nicely on the trades. The very next day at the open "C", price gapped up right into an objective supply level, "A" and "B". That short entry at "C" was very low risk and high reward but you had to be trading at or near the open to get that low risk short entry which was true for all the gap entries for the week.

The key is to not look at candles on your screen as red and green pictures and patterns. You must understand what is happening behind the scenes. Whether you're trading stocks, futures, options, or forex, the logic and rules never change.

Again, the market imbalances are greatest at or near the open of trading in all markets. By the end of the first hour of trading each day, a large amount of novice trading capital is simply transferred into the accounts of the astute trader. If you can't see the novice trader in markets, you likely are the novice trader.
A few weeks ago I happened to be in LA instructing a stock class and on the 19th March, a morning opening gap in the US stock markets offered us a very low risk and high reward opportunity. Our morning prep work basically consists of finding stocks that are opening at price levels where supply and demand are out of balance in a large way and then simply trading them back to balance. Once the traders understand the whole supply (resistance)/demand (support) concept and the rules, we use two sources to find these opportunities which typically present themselves right at the open of trading or shortly thereafter. One of our sources offers us the morning broker upgrades and downgrades. An upgrade that jumped out at us was Citigroup who was upgrading shares of Imclone (IMCL) with a "Buy" recommendation. While we are trading real money in class, you might think we would want to listen to this upgrade and do exactly what it is suggesting to do as Citigroup is one of the largest banks in the world and we are just 20 people in a trading class in LA. Well, it really depends on your point of view. Citigroup likely had good fundamental reasons to upgrade the stock and looking at the chart below, MANY people listened with both ears and bought IMCL on the open which is what caused that gap up in price. If your point of view is that of a smart buyer and seller of anything who has an understanding of the laws of supply and demand, not only were you not buying like everyone else was, you were selling to that huge group of buyers (at least we were).

Notice the price action on 3/7. There was a dramatic price decline from the $45-$46 price level. This can only happen because there is much more supply at that level than willing demand. When this happens, price must decline. The dramatic rate of decline suggests a strong supply and demand imbalance at that level. Now, notice what happens the morning of the upgrade on 3/19. Citigroup upgrades the stock and price opens right into that supply level. While the rest of the world is buying in a strong way, we had our plan in place well before the open that told us to sell to anyone who wanted to buy at that level. Why? Because we knew that if we sold to the buyers at that price level on the gap up, we would be selling to novice buyers who likely are consistent losing market speculators. How do we know this? Only a novice would buy AFTER an advance in price and INTO a price level where supply exceeds demand. Our job is to find this novice trader and simply take the other side of his or her trade.
When you enter markets at price levels where supply and demand are out of balance in a big way, especially at or near the open of trading, moves in the market are typically very fast. There were many other stocks this day that did the exact same thing and those who did the 15 minutes of morning prep work that we do each day were rewarded with low risk/high reward gains.
This trade and the thoughts and rules that went with it are not meant to impress you. I mean to impress upon you the importance of looking at markets for what they really are which is simply an ongoing supply and demand equation. Opportunity exists when this simple and straightforward relationship is out of balance. Everything else in and around markets is just "noise" that is meant to invite you into markets at the wrong time and in the wrong direction. As an educator, I say that is unfortunate. As a trader, I love it - the more noise the better!

Hammer of the Gods?
The Japanese Yen has become extremely volatile overnight, due to a variety of factors.

1) Risk Aversion. Moody's Investors Service cut ratings on $5.2 billion of bonds backed by U.S. subprime mortgages, and S&P announced that it may downgrade $12 billion worth of subprime sludge. If hedge funds and other investors are forced to meet margin calls, they will liquidate their profitable carry trade positions.

2) Bank of Japan. The BoJ will announce its decision on interest rates this evening. While no change is expected, we may hear hawkish comments from BoJ officials, who are expected to raise rates in August.

All of this volatility has created some wicked looking potential hammers (potential because we never assume that we know how an open candle will close!), like the one on the daily GBP/JPY

USD/CAD is in a long term downtrend, and it has found some resistance on the hourly chart on the 1.0600 figure. Also showing overbought on the hourly RSI. Shorting here with a stop above the recent highs.

USD/CAD Resistance - Fibonacci, Moving Average
An addendum to the previous post, a glance at the daily chart reveals that the rally hit resistance at the 20-day moving average (about 1.0615) before slipping back below the 1.0600 figure. We also have a 50% Fibonacci resistance point near 1.0600, so the stop has a good degree of protection. This doesn't guarantee success, put it doesn't hurt, either.

USD/CAD - Managing The Trade
Hey Everybody,

I hope you're all having a great day and enjoying our live trade on USD/CAD. Now that we have a nice little profit of about 40 pips, it's time to move the stop. I'm going to lower the protective stop to 1.0585, which was also the entry point. At the same time I'm going to close 1/3 of my position. This means that we'll have a nice little gain on 1/3 of the trade, and at worst a break-even scenario on the other 2/3 of the trade. Hopefully this puppy will keep on running, and we can take additional profits and lower the stop further.

Total Profit = 237 pips - Trade Closed
We have finally closed our live trade with a total profit of 237 pips. Final exit was 1.0465, duration was approximately 30 hours. I sure wish that it were always this easy!

We entered yesterday at 1.0585 (see previous posts) We now have:

1/3 = profit of 40 pips
1/3 = profit of 77 pips
1/3 = profit of 120 pips

Total Profit = 237 pips

Continuing coverage of our live trade. A big move in USD/CAD on the heels of the Trade Balance figures for the U.S. and for Canada. We are going to take additional profits here at 1.0508, and move the stop down to 1.0545.

We entered yesterday at 1.0585 (see previous posts) We now have:

1/3 = profit of 40 pips
1/3 = profit of 77 pips
Total profit = 117 pips (So Far)
1/3 = still open

Our target for the final 1/3 of the trade is 1.0465. So, well either gain 40 pips if the stop is hit at 1.0545, or 120 pips if the exit is reached at 1.0465.

EUR/JPY Ascending Triangle
The EUR/JPY pair appears to be consolidating after another ferocious leg higher, and that consolidation is taking the form of an ascending triangle. I'm impressed by the fact that the triangle harmonizes with the overall trend, as the pair has been trending higher for over two years now. Bears have been defending the area just under 169.00, for a week or so, and I've got to believe there are stops above the figure. A break above that level could unleash a torrent of short covering.

AUD/USD Channel
Check out this channel formation on the daily chart of AUD/USD. Aussie has pulled back to major support, but the fundamentals still favor the Land Down Under. China is still growing like mad, and the demand for base metals will continue to increase, which favors Aussie. The interest rate differential means that long traders will collect interest in addition to the potential appreciation from here.

EUR/JPY Falling With DJIA, S&P 500
It's no coincidence that the reversal in US stocks - which opened nicely higher and traded well through most of the day - has also led to a reversal in EUR/JPY. I consider the US stock market to be the current barometer of risk, and when risk aversion rears its head, investments that had performed well tend to suffer. Few trades have performed as well as the Carry Trades over the past five months. Here on the 15 minute chart, we see EUR/JPY reversing in sync with US stocks.
