It seems that the book is talking about index and ETF.  Unfortunately, we come here to find a way to beat the market.
Numerous experts tell us that it is very hard to beat the market, and even if you can do it for a while, you never know it is because of luck or skill.
I guess most of us will still try it any way.
We just need to know most likely, we will fail.
