Yingli Green Energy and Xinguang Agree to Polysilicon Pricing for 2008

BAODING, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited (NYSE: YGE - News) (“Yingli Green Energy” or the “Company”), one of the leading vertically integrated photovoltaic (PV) product manufacturers in China, today announced that on October 19, 2007 the Company entered into a new supply contract and on October 29, 2007 an associated supplementary contract (the “New Contracts”) to replace its 1,232 ton polysilicon supply arrangements (the “Original Contract”) with Sichuan Xinguang Silicon Science and Technology Co., Ltd. of China (“Xinguang”). Under the Original Contract, 50 tons have already been delivered and an additional 182 tons are committed to be delivered before the end of the first quarter of 2008 with the remainder to be delivered by the end of 2008.

Under the Original Contract, the price of the polysilicon that Xinguang will supply to Yingli Green Energy in 2008 was not specified. The New Contracts provide a fixed unit price on the total committed volume as well as a unit price adjustment mechanism. Under the terms of the New Contracts, the fixed unit price will be adjusted if the market price of polysilicon upon delivery fluctuates outside a 5% band that was based on the then prevailing market price. In addition, the New Contracts provide that if one of the parties requests further adjustment to the unit price, the performance of the New Contracts will be suspended until both parties reach an agreement on pricing. Yingli Green Energy expects the New Contract to help clarify the visibility on the Company's 2008 cost structure.

“As one of China’s leading polysilicon producers, we are pleased that the quality of our products has been recognized by Yingli Green Energy, one of the world’s leading PV product manufacturers,” Mr. Shaozhang Chen, President of Xinguang commented. “This amended contract demonstrates both parties’ commitment to further strengthen our strong relationship in the fast growing and rapidly changing PV market.”

“Xinguang has been one of our major suppliers and we are very pleased that a significant portion of our polysilicon requirement for 2008 remains secured,” said Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy. “The polysilicon shipped from Xinguang so far in 2007 has already been processed and used in the production of our PV products, and to date, our PV product output using this polysilicon has met our quality standards.”

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chinese solar product manufacturer Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. Ltd. on Monday said it signed new contracts to clarify pricing on its 1,232-ton polysilicon supply deal with Sichuan Xinguang Silicon Science and Technology Co. Ltd.

Under terms of the new contracts, the fixed unit price will be adjusted if the market price of polysilicon upon delivery changes outside a 5-percent band based on the then prevailing market price. The new deals also specify that if one of the companies requests further adjustment to the unit price, the contracts will be suspended until both agree on pricing.

Yingli Green Energy said it expects the new deal to help clarify its 2008 cost structure.

Under the original contract, 50 tons already have been delivered and an additional 182 tons will be before the end of the first quarter of 2008. The rest will be delivered by the end of next year.

Shares of Yingli Green Energy added $3.43, or 10 percent, to $37.82 in midday trading. The stock earlier traded as high as $37.99, eclipsing a 52-week high of $34.68.

Solar-Product Stocks Make Significant Gains on New Oil Price Record, Supply Agreements

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of solar-product makers made healthy gains across the board Monday, as oil prices once again touched a new record.

While oil prices and solar stocks don't have an economic correlation, market psychology favors renewables when there are reminders of the "finite" nature of petroleum reserves, said Cowen and Co. alternative energy analyst Rob Stone. Oil prices have jumped 9 percent since the Energy Department on Wednesday reported that oil supplies dropped sharply during the week ended Oct. 19.

"When oil enters new trading ranges, that has a significant impact on the group," Stone said in an interview Monday. "You saw further discussion this morning of whether oil was going to breach $100."

Light, sweet crude oil for December delivery rose 33 cents to $92.19 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after earlier reaching a new trading record of $93.20.

Higher oil prices will also put increasing pressure on legislators to pass a long-awaited energy bill, one of whose sticking points has been renewable energy provisions. The bill will likely provide further incentives for alternative energy companies, including solar-product makers.

"We're bullish on the solar group overall," Stone said.

Among the biggest movers were China Sunergy Co., which rose $1.94, or 21 percent, to $11.07; Ascent Solar Technologies Inc., which rose $2.07, or 12 percent, to $19.19; and LDK Solar Co., which gained $3.19, or 8.4 percent, to $41.08.

Several companies reported supply agreements over the last week, which also provided boosts for individual stocks.

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. said Monday it signed new contracts to clarify pricing on a 1,232-ton polysilicon supply deal. Its shares rose $2.71, or 7.9 percent, to $37.10 in afternoon trading.

LDK said last week it signed a contract worth about $534 million to supply solar wafers to solar cell maker Canadian Solar Inc. Canadian Solar shares rose 95 cents, or 10 percent, to $10.40.

Suntech Power Holdings Co. said Thursday it will purchase $1.5 billion worth of polysilicon from Asia Silicon Co. under a fixed-price contract. Its shares rose $5, or 9.1 percent, to $60.16.

中新河北网保定10月29日电 (吕子豪 张立明)今天，中国首台出口美国最大容量350MVA/230kV的移相变压器，在保定天威保变电气股份有限公司一次试制成功。试验数据表明，其各项性能及技术指标均已达到国际先进水平。

　　据天威保变董事长丁强介绍，此台350MVA/230kV移相变压器是由中国自行开发设计，具有完全自主知识产权，填补国内空白，是中国变压器行业出口容量最大的移相变压器。

　　目前世界上只有ABB、西门子和中国天威保变能够生产大型移相变压器。移相变压器在欧美等发达国家广泛用于电力系统。与传统变压器相比，移相变压器结构复杂，技术难度高，可保护电力系统的输电线路，防止过载发生，并可以使原有的输电系统增容。

　　据了解，参与美国西北能源公司项目竞标的变压器制造商，除天威保变外，还有多家国际著名变压器公司。2006年12月，天威保变凭借其移相变压器产品在世界领先的技术优势，击败所有竞争对手，最终赢得了这笔订单，合同总价达594万美元。据悉，该台变压器将于明年交货。

BAODING, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited (NYSE: YGE - News), one of the leading vertically integrated photovoltaic (PV) product manufacturers in China, today announced that it has signed an agreement to sell 16.5 MW of photovoltaic (“PV”) modules to Aplicaciones Técnicas de la Energía, S.L. (“ATERSA”). ATERSA and its parent company, the Elecnor S.A. (“Elecnor”), are leaders in producing and distributing PV modules and PV equipment as well as PV “Turn-Key Projects” in Spain.

The PV modules provided by Yingli in this agreement will be installed in the Argasol Project and the Alumbra Project, which are located in Ciudad Real and Badajoz, Spain, respectively. The quality and power output of the modules supplied to ATERSA will be tested by ATERSA’s laboratories. This new agreement makes Yingli Green Energy one of ATERSA and Elecnor’s major module suppliers in terms of module shipments.

天威风电产业园厂房和办公楼由河北省建设集团承建，目前A区主厂房设计的109根钢制立柱已经安装了90根，即日就可以全部安装完毕，开始安装厂房大梁和天车梁；办公区B区、C区一层框架结构已经完毕，马上就要混凝土浇注一层顶板。项目建设工程进展顺利。
